Trash Can Enforcement
Exeter HOA has cultivated a partnership with the Town of Leesburg to help enforce trash can rules violations. Sentry Management has graciously volunteered additional staff to perform semi-regular inspections of certain areas at no charge to the Association. Trash cans and recycling cans not properly stored after each Tuesday will have their ID number recorded and sent to the Town, who will issue a first violation notice. A second violation will result in a $50 fine per violation, up to $300 per year. The Town will use the ID number printed on each can to issue the violation. If you are unsure if you still have the can issued to your residence, please confirm by calling the Property Manager.
Town Halls
The Association is about to undertake a process that will help alleviate many of the issues caused by trash can enforcement, vehicles, and costs incurred by the HOA. Unfortunately, sometimes legal changes also cause Association's to have to go back and modify their governing documents. Over the next 6 months, residents are invited to participate in door to door canvassing, attending Town Halls, and collecting votes. The goal is to re-institute the power to set rules regarding Association parking lots, to fine for violations such as trash cans or bulk pickup left at the curb for weeks, and to collect legal fees as a result of having to take certain cases to court. There will be two Town Halls, the first on March 12, at 7 p.m. and the second, with legal counsel present, on April 2, at 7 p.m.
Committee Meetings
Are you an active resident who wants to see improvements throughout our neighborhood? There are many ways to be involved without a huge time commitment. In March, both of our most active committees start again. The Pool Committee has to hit the ground running to have the pool ready by May for opening day, which involves ordering new furniture, inspecting equipment, suggesting new rules, and more. The Landscaping Committee explores ways to improve the pathways, trees, flower beds, and other needs and aesthetics of the community. The HOA is also in need of a new Safety Committee Chair and Architectural Review Board members. It's rewarding work for any resident and a great way to have a say in the positive change you will see every day.
Events Canceled for 2020
Unfortunately, the Events Chair for the past years has stepped down from hosting events this year to focus on other efforts in the community. The Board is looking for another amazing resident to help organize, lead, and set up a team to host events. The former Chair is still available to help make the resources and knowledge of hosting events an easy transition to a new individual and no commitment is forever. Host one or host a bunch, it's up to you. Events are a great way to make our community stronger, build the bond between neighbors, and help raise awareness to the needs of the Association. It's also just a bunch of fun! If interested, please contact us via email for more information.
New Property Manager
The Board of Directors wishes to thank Mr. Joe Barrows for his exemplary work over the last year and half in transitioning the Association's work to the new property management company. In the midst of starting a new community, Joe has helped oversee several projects including the refurbishment of tennis and basketball courts, the pool house, safety sign replacement, community reader boards, the storm water management pond project, and so much more. This has certainly been an active year and it is in many ways thanks to Joe and his hard work. Unfortunately for us, Joe has moved into his full-time position as the Assistant Division Manager for Sentry Management. Over the next few months the HOA is excited to welcome Ms. Kimberly Rensing as the new Property Manager. Her years of experience are sure to help us as we continue our goal of excellence!
*This digital publication also included information when transmitted via email on the recent storm damage, which may be found in a separate blog post on the Exeter HOA website.
