MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-PRESIDENT

I am going to start this message on a serious note. I have noticed a somewhat sad trend here in Exeter. People are bringing out the police for situations that might well be avoided if only neighbors would talk to neighbors. I am talking about dogs barking, hot tubs gurgling and alleged trespassing. Leesburg keeps growing but our police force doesn’t. Of course you should call out the police when something is wrong, don’t misunderstand me, but I think a lot of issues could be solved without police intervention. Next time something happens, before you call the police, think for a moment; “Could I solve this issue by just going to talk to my neighbor?” If the answer is “Yes,” give it a try, if that doesn’t work; at least you know you have done your best.

Spring is on the way, Easter is at the end of the month. We urgently need an Easter Bunny for the kid’s party on March 19th. If you can do it, please contact either Marilyn on 703-669-2796 or Exeterevents@aol.com.

Work will commence shortly on upgrading the facilities at the pool and refurbishing the Clubhouse. The Landscape Committee will be doing more tree planting as well.
Last but not least, we say a sad farewell to Gene Campbell, our Property Manager at PMP. Gene will still be with PMP but is heading up the HR Department. We also extend a warm welcome to Karri Johnson, our new Property Manager.

Have a great Easter.

Want to be on the Board of Directors?

Catoctin SkatePark is a 12,000 square-foot lighted skating area for in-line skaters, skateboarders, and *bikes built by the Town of Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Friends of Ida Lee. The area includes an assortment of obstacles, storage shed, benches, picnic tables, vending machines and free parking.
The design includes a skating surface skimmed with 1.5 inches of asphalt and coated to provide a smooth skating surface, as well as an assortment of obstacles- launch ramps, fun boxes, rail slides, and half-pipes - to challenge skaters' skills. As an example of the design elements included in the park, the half-pipe structure is a "U" shaped piece of equipment, the most popular in the past decade. Skaters drop in from 10-foot high verticals and skate back upward to the other side.

The facility was developed through a unique collaborative effort, initiated by a group of young Leesburg skaters, that included public and private financial support, the in-kind donation of services, and grass roots fundraising efforts ranging from raffles and food sales to the "Battle of the Bands" special events.
Catoctin SkatePark is one of a kind in Northern Virginia. If you would like more information about the Catoctin SkatePark, call 703.771.4771.

What you need to bring to use the SkatePark:
• • Protective gear
• • helmet
• • Kneepads
• • elbow pads

Seen any good new family movies lately?

I can’t say that I have either. Why not take the time to check out some of the golden oldies instead? We recently obtained the set of Pink Panther movies, (minus three that seem to have some type of legal battle with the studio) and what a hoot for all who were watching, from the age of 11 through 83! Everyone love the classic confrontations between Inspector Jacques Clouseau (the hopelessly bumbling detective with a genius for resting his hands in the wrong place (on the surface of a spinning globe, for instance) and mangling the English language.) and his faithful man servant Cato. Remember those attacks? Cato has been given strict instructions, by Clouseau, to attack him at any time possible with absolutely no warning Cato does so frequently and with disastrous results in each instance. Like the time they fell through the floor into the next apartment! It left us all in stitches. It is an absolute hoot to see poor old Chief Dreyfus get more and more twitchy and paranoid as Clouseau manages to injure him at every turn. Clouseau bumbles about solving the cases almost purely by accident as he stumble over clues, his own feet and many inanimate objects! These movies are definitely worth a re-visit and can be rented at the local video stores.
