Leesburg Police Department’s Community Meeting – July 14, 2009
On July 14, 2009, the Exeter Community had an opportunity to meet Officer Drew Stanley who is the officer assigned to the Exeter Community. Reflected below is the message from Leesburg Police Department which highlights their community commander program.
To improve our community communication and service delivery, we have implemented a community commander program which will allow for more rapid problem identification and resolution. A member of the police command staff has been given geographic ownership and responsibility for specific areas of the community. Through these community commands the department will be able to:
• Ensure more effective and timely response to community requests;
• Have a command officer serve as a central point of reference for citizens to access Leesburg Police Department services and resources;
• Marshal command, division, department and Town resources to address problems;
• Constantly monitor crime, traffic and quality of life issues within assigned command area.
More detailed information along with maps of the community command areas and contact information for the community commanders can be found on our web page, www.leesburgva.gov/services/police.
For Leesburg’s Police Department to be successful in keeping our community safe, we need your help. Report suspicious activity immediately by calling the Leesburg Police Department non-emergency number which is (703) 771-4500. Practice good crime prevention practices such as locking your doors and windows, not displaying valuables in cars and around your home, and installing outside perimeter lighting.
